Marsden Cuckoo Day has been a local event for over a decade with this year being the 17th annual event.

 

Marsden itself, is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirkless in West Yorkshire with a population of 3,499 in the 2001 cencus. The village is surrounded by three moors, Marsden Moor, Meltham Moor with Saddleworth Moor also being very close.

 

Marsden has many impressive institutions and landmarks including the Church of St Bartholomew's and the Parochial Hall making Marsden full of history with beautiful buildings. Marsden is also the home of the Marsden Silver Prize Band, a top level brass band making Marsden rich with beautiful architecture and culture.

 

Marsden Cuckoo Day is an annual highlight within Marsden with the whole village taking part. This creates a brilliant atmosphere and great weekend. This year Marsden Cuckoo Day has events on both the Friday night and Saturday day making a fun packed weekend. This year is also the first year that has hosted the Tunnel End event which is sure to attract many people and add to the atmosphere that gathers throughout the day!
